What is Big Red Group?

Big Red Group was established in 2017 with the intent to build a multi-brand experience marketplace to serve different audiences, with the ethos of valuing experiences over material goods.

Starting with the acquisition of RedBalloon in 2017, a trusted Australian experience brand, and REDii, an experience-based rewards platform, Big Red Group has since expanded to become the largest aggregator of experiences across Australia and New Zealand.

Adding leading adventure experience brand Adrenaline in 2018, and luxury experience brand Lime&Tonic in 2019, Big Red Group continues to expand its marketplace through strategic acquisitions, partnerships and organic growth underpinned by continuous investment in technology, talent and marketing.

Partnering with thousands of small business experience suppliers and offering 10,000+ experiences across its brands, Big Red Group remains steadfast on its mission to shift the way people experience life.

Headquartered in Sydney’s CBD with an employee base of more than 150 people, Big Red Group has served more than 3 million experiences to date, and delivers an experience approximately every 30 seconds.

WHAT HAS BIG RED GROUP ACQUIRED?

Big Red Group has acquired Australian owned and operated Experience Oz and Experience Oz Local Agent from holding company TicketMates Australia.

The acquired brands from TicketMates Australia will join the Big Red Group’s portfolio of brands. TicketMates Australia will retain the auto-club business Club Connect – a dedicated member benefits platform serving Australia’s large-scale auto-clubs such as RACQ, RACV and NRMA.

Big Red Group has negotiated a long-term wholesale agreement enabling Big Red Group suppliers to be progressively introduced to Club Connect, giving them exclusive access to auto-club’s 11 million members.

Queensland based Experience Oz, is an industry leader in serving both domestic and inbound holiday makers, and presents a new audience for Big Red Group to grow for our suppliers.

Local Agent, is Australia’s leading one-stop-shop for concierge activity bookings serving 700+ hotels including Mantra and Oaks Hotels, and offers a further channel for Big Red Group suppliers Australia wide.


Why acquire Experience Oz?

The acquired brands enable Big Red Group’s marketplace to better address the inbound and domestic holiday market in which Experience Oz has a strong foothold, and provide new channels into hotels and autoclubs for our supply community.

The acquisitions complement the existing brands, bringing a new tourism-focused customer segment and audience to Big Red Group. This means Big Red Group can deliver a greater customer experience via access to diverse products not traditionally listed by its existing brands. We can also better support our small Australian business partners by providing new brand voices to broaden customer appeal.

This is an opportunity for our partners to benefit from our brand names, with 7 out of 10 unprompted Australian household recall, our investment in world-class technology, as well as market factors driving growth in the experiences industry. By bringing new brand voices to Big Red Group, we can expand your opportunities to speak to new customer segments.

Can I list all my products on all of your brands?

Our main intent is not to list the same products across all websites. Each of our brands appeals to different audiences and deliver value to different suppliers. The acquisition of Experience Oz and Local Agent complements the existing brands, bringing new tourism and booking-focused customer segment and audience to Big Red Group. This means Big Red Group can deliver a greater customer experience via access to tourism-focused experiences not listed by the current brands.


What’s in it for me? What does this acquisition mean for my business?

This is a huge opportunity for our supply partners to gain incremental demand and distribution, benefiting from our household brand names, investment in world-class technology, and market factors driving growth in the experiences industry. But we cannot do this with our existing brands alone.

Through this acquisition, Big Red Group can better support our thousands of Australian business partners in several ways. By bringing new brand voices and market segments to Big Red Group, we can broaden customer appeal, alongside other tangible benefits of the group which will be delivered in the future, including:

Will new contracts be issued?

For new-to Big Red Group suppliers, we will be working with you to issue new centralised agreements that bring our supply partner community under Big Red Group and its ABN. This is a legal requirement, and we will keep you informed every step of the way.


Will this change the way my products are listed?

We’re not going to make any large changes in the short term, it will be business as usual. Your product listings will be untouched, and you will continue to operate business as usual. All systems you currently use – including customer service and finance contacts – will remain the same for the foreseeable future whilst we work on the integration of our shared services. Please continue to work in the same way you have in the past.

Your contact at Big Red Group may approach you to discuss the possibility of adding listings and other opportunities in the near future.


How will this affect how we do business?

The brands will remain separate, serving their unique customer segments, but will ultimately leverage Big Red Group infrastructure to drive growth and best practice.

All systems you currently use – including customer service and finance contacts – will remain the same for the foreseeable future whilst we work on the integration. Please continue to work with us in the same way you have in the past. We do not expect there to be any interruption to the service and performance you received.   ​


Will the Experience Oz team come across?

All Experience Oz and Local Agent employees are retained, with their day-to-day roles, Gold Coast work location and reporting lines unchanged at this stage.

Experience Oz and Local Agent employees will transition across into employment agreements with Big Red Group over coming days, retaining their length of service, and on otherwise equivalent terms and conditions.

Club Connect employees will not come across to Big Red Group, as TicketMates Australia is retaining that entity

TicketMates Australia Managing Director, Ben Manns has become a shareholder in Big Red Group and joins the senior leadership team effective immediately in the role of Supply & Distribution Director. Ben will manage day to day operations of Experience Oz through the initial transition into the new year.

LOCAL AGENT
Resellers through Experience Oz Local Agent include accommodation providers, tour desks and booking call centres and retail stores, totalling approximately 950 reseller locations.

AUTO CLUBS
Exclusive booking and ticketing platform for auto clubs including RACV, NRMA, RAC, RACQ and RACT. We provide an Australia wide tour and attraction portal on their websites for their members, as well as a booking system for their call centres and retail locations The Auto clubs combined represent over 11 million members. ​
